It's one of those things where I both wish it would be a thing and also not but I imagine there must be fan animations.
After everything that's already been produced since its initial release, either underwhelming, as a lot of late adaptations are, or permanently lasting, reaching thousands of episodes. I'd bet on the first, since I don't really currently see an available slot for the second.

I feel that it would do extremely well regardless of how good the production values for it are. Although I can't imagine a Yotsuba anime happening until the manga eventually finishes at this point. Just because of how long we've gone without one so far.
I think it could actually work quite well and I would love to see an adaptation.
