A thread to post and share peculiar and unique touhou art you consider special or just pretty.

ZUN-style art is also welcome.

Sharing here the oldest known 3D Touhou animation:

Made by Shiobi in February 17, 2005 in support of Yuyuko for the second Touhou Saimoe Tournament (which Meiling ended up winning), posted originally on shitaraba (https://jbbs.shitaraba.net/bbs/read.cgi/game/20311/1108628969/)

I think it's pretty fascinating, it could pass for a never released PS2 Touhou game.

I had a lot of good stuff saved from a landscape thread a while back. There's a lot of striking visuals that you only get with these kinds of scenes.

With the facial animations and CGs it fits perfectly in the 1997-2001 era of PS2.

I ended up digging around to see if Shiobi made any other 3D touhou stuff and I found their website (https://www.siobi.info/gallery/index.htm)
Unfortunately it seems like their last 3D model they made was a Kyouko one around 10 years ago. It seems like it was intended to be a CGI studio but never fully took off.

postin' some ole classic flan ones

RIP Aozora Market

I also found here some of the oldest 2hu fanarts ever done dating back to 2003. Can't decisively say they're the oldest fanarts because maybe there's some part of this universe where PC-98 era Touhou might've gotten some fanart yet to be discovered.

Nevermind, after digging around some more, I found even older 2hu fan content. First pic was made 8 days before the release of EoSD promoting its launch. You can check out this archived japanese fan page here: https://web.archive.org/web/20020803184126/http://nightlights.atarashi.com/zun/
This website also featured arrangements of the PC-98 game soundtracks, a really rare PC-98 era Touhou fan site.

There's also the second picture which I found at an archived Japanese imageboard thread dating back to August 24, 2002, if anyone is curious about it as well, you can read it here: https://web.archive.org/web/20021005182251fw_/http://merkmal-2nd.hp.infoseek.co.jp/allroom.html

Not really art related but on a sidenote, I also found an archive of this fan website that featured a MIDI arrangement of Shinki's theme song that was released in 2000 but made in 1999 https://web.archive.org/web/20001030145224/http://www2.plala.or.jp:80/joter/midi.htm

I like these multi spread artworks
