>very nice to look at

> Sumikko Gurashi Movie 2: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko
I watched the first one because it was recommended on a previous /kind/ and I really like it. Now I found out that this one has subs, so I watched it. The story wasn't as good as in the first one, but it was very cute and kind.

> Oomuro-ke: Dear Sisters
Yuru Yuri spinoff about Sakurako and her sisters, it was pretty fun! It's going to get a second half later this year.

Doing a nice rotation of 3 1981 mecha shows: Godmars, Goshogun and Gold Lightan, all are quite distinct from each other and all are good - I can especially see why Godmars was such a hit with its creative storyboarding. I'm also going to check out Gaoranger, soon, maybe even now.

I watched Maboroshi, it was pretty good!

I binged Watamote over the weekend because I needed something I can relate to.

For some reason I have issues motivating myself to watch anime, even though I know I'll really enjoy it, I still can't motivate myself for some reason, might any of you friends have an idea as to why?
>>1797
This is one I really want to start watching.

>>1798
Commitment. Watch some shows that are just a few minutes each or a movie to get back into the feel for it.

>>1798
I mostly watch one or two seasonals with the odd old show or movie here or there a few times a year.
Dedicating time to things is a tricky thing. Often people like anime, but watch less of it because they enjoy other things more (or are addicted to something). That's fine too.
The trick for me to start anime is that I have to REALLY want to watch it because there's a dozen shows every year that I "could watch", but that doesn't really make me feel like I need to. If I don't get this feeling, I just won't. No backlog, nothing. I'll just let it go and wait for something else another season. Already watched an obscene amount of anime so I'm generally not missing out on anything either way.

too cute...

a personal favorite I usually go back to is hachimitsu no kuroba, the anime sort of hits right at home with its melancholic animation and soapy drama. definitely hits the feels.

I enjoyed the third season of Yuru Camp.

Been watching Kanon, prety intence so far but I'm soldering in.

>>2389
Are you watching 2002 or 2006?

>>2390
is that 2002? looks weird...

> Neo Tokyo - Manie-Manie: Meikyuu Monogatari
It looks nice but is really confusing.

>>2549
I hope you at least understood the other two shorts, anon.
(I was confused too)

I've been returning to my roots and watching a lot of pokémon lately, mostly from the Advance Generation era. The last thing I watched was Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, which I haven't seen in 15 years or so. This one always stood out to me for some reason, maybe because it was the last film I watched before taking a break from the anime for so long. I also had a big crush on Haruka/May for most of my childhood, so seeing her in a motherly role created some strange feelings.
Conceptually this is still one of my favourite pokémon films. The sea temple is a cool idea and the sequence with Ash saving the temple is one of the best in the entire franchise. For a pokémon film the story is pretty ambitious and it's one of the few newer films that feels like something more than just a really long anime episode. The music definitely carried the film, but I guess that's true even for the anime. I enjoyed it much more than I was expecting to.
There were also some disappointing things. In terms of CGI use this is one of the worst pokémon films, with some scenes looking like a PS2 cutscene. It's unfortunate because the handdrawn background art and colour palette in all these films are usually gorgeous, but this only draws even more attention to the ugly CGI. The side characters were unusually weak for a pokémon film, which is odd when you consider that this is still apparently the longest one. It didn't matter that much since the focus was always on Haruka and Manaphy, but it made the ending scene feel kind of random. In general the film felt disjointed, like they had to cut a lot out. There was a lot of build up with Team Rocket that went nowhere, in the promotional material Ash is at some kind of steering wheel that's not in the film, etc. The final Team Rocket scene was them being pulled out of the temple into the ocean and you didn't even get a quick shot at the end to show they were okay. It's very strange.
Watching the film with "dubtitles" was kind of shocking, though. I had my suspicions, of course, but the localisation was much worse than I anticipated. For example, there's a scene where Team Rocket come out of hiding and in Japanese the joke is that they're so sore that they can't talk, but in the dub they're making all kinds of bad puns, culminating in them breaking the fourth wall directly and teasing Diamond and Pearl.

My only real experience with Pokémon throughout my life other than collecting cards lightly like everyone else were the older movies I'd see on TV every so often, Pokémon Ranger and Temple of the Sea included. I might actually watch some of the few I missed. Super comfy watching.

>>2565
it's kind of strange. the first pokemon movie was really good in my opinion. computers were pretty weak then, maybe that explains the weak CGI?

>>2565
They're very comfy! I think they're all worth watching if you like pokémon. I've seen the first 10 and I don't remember any of them being bad or unwatchable.
>>2576
I mean, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea came out the same year as the first Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, which still looks good today. They just didn't have the budget or interest for a pokémon film.
But in general I think CGI rarely looks good in anime. It rarely integrates well with the hand drawn art so it just looks janky. The pokémon films have amazing artistic direction otherwise, so the simplistic CGI just clashes even more.
The first film is great, though, yeah.

>>2581
i think you're right. did you know the first pokemon movie had a sequel made completely with CGI? it's alright. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Biz8yRcD_jk

> Cyber City Oedo 808
A story was a bit weak but it looked great and was enjoyable.

I watched Bocchi the Rock. I have to admit that it was a bit confusing to me, I couldn't tell how much of Hitori's meltdowns were just visual gags and how much actually happened, since people around her reacted as if it was all real… But it was a cute little anime, I'm glad I watched it.

Recommend me something to watch /kind/ I'm bored and its my day off.

>>3256
Have you seen Gunsmith Cats?

>>3258
What about Sing a Bit of Harmony?

>>3259
No. I will watch this thx anon.

some pokemon episodes… of the first season.

I'm watching Urusei Yatsura for the first time, I didn't know it existed until I came here.
I don't really understand why Ataru is so hesitant to just bang the hot alien babe who loves him.

>>3264
>I don't really understand why Ataru is so hesitant to just bang the hot alien babe who loves him.
Because somehow you have to make it longer that 3 episodes.

s/that/than

>>3264
So here's the thing: Ataru's into girls that aren't into him

he's also legendarily stupid

>>3260
Did you? How did you like it?

I watched Look Back, it's a very sweet movie!

Roujin Z

>>40
I'll be done with Bakemonogatari soon! I actually expected to like it less but here we are. Can't wait to check out the Kizu movies

>>1102
I love Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS

>>2581
I've been meaning to watch this since it's the last anime film to use cels, as far as I know.

Are friends watching Takopi's Original Sin?

>>4541
This is the first time I heard about it, is it any good?

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom. I didn't think i would cry for such a simple assassin anime yet here i was sobbing for its ending which was controversial and betrayed the source material (the VN) but i liked the show. Some plotholes here and there but it was fine all around.

>>4545
Friend, I was genuinely scarred for life by this anime. Even just thin king about it brings up the pain. One of the absolute best I've seen ever.

>>4545
oh buddy i made an amv of this back when i was 13

>>4558
show!!!😳

they need to hurry up and make season 2 of that catgirl with a sword anime. all other animes are bad but get infinite seasons. no justice on the earth.

>>4544
Takopi has only 6 episodes and it's already ended

>is it any good?

Looks good

I watched the third Sumikko Gurashi movie, it was pretty good, not as good as the first, but much better than the second (>>1610).
