Yes but even with that in mind, isn't it better to let these dudes stay there for longer, it's experience still but won't cost the teams a fortune and then ruin the guy's career early because he was immediately put onto immense pressure.
That said, regardless of time in junior/base categories, it's really fucked up to get a rookie and immediatly ditch them in 5 or less races because they aren't an instant Vestappen. Like you said, imagine if they did that with PS3 when he was in Alpeen. Rookies should be given a full season at least and the teams should be more responsible with who they pick up instead of just gambling.

I think having F2 drivers use old (1 or 2 years old) F1 cars would help a lot with that, while keeping costs contained enough to make it viable.
