>>22186
I talked about this in a previous thread but this gold rush for trying to find the next Max is a lost cause that's just going to ruin the career of potentially good drivers by putting them into F1 way too fucking early.

There's other categories these young kids can spend a few years driving on first before they make it to F1, even having them cook on F2 for a couple years is better then immediately putting them on track as a main driver. At least put them as a reserve first.

>>22188
>At least put them as a reserve first.

amx semenstone 2021, it affected him in the following races and he only spoke up about it years later

>>22454
I agree with the opening statement.
It's very apparent when you watch some of the local broadcasts.
Palmer and DC will occasionally throw some shade towards the FIA/F1 but it's often very light. To much pussyfooting around issues, never expressing any real opinion if it could make FIA/F1 looks bad.

I think Bossberg might be a bit to hard on Kimi though. Did he himself have the kind of mindset he proposed while he was driving for Williams? Or in his first years with Mercedes?
Seems to me like he only adapted that mindset and lifestyle when he realized the team and the car was in a league of its own and he had strong competition from Hamilton. IE he needed to adapt.
Kimi is a rookie, in a car with varying performance. His teammate is very experience, both within the team and in the sport.

>>22456
I think thats mostly what he is getting at.
Everyone hypes fake gimi alot and if he can get a pole on a sprint he potential, but if he doesn't "man up" like Rosberg had to at some point, he will waste many years of his career.

I took this as Rosberg warning him to awake up about it earlier.

>>22448
That looks like a banging track record. What happened to Ferrari?

>>22458
Their management stupidity saw them lose alot of fucking talent behind the scenes and replacing them with mediocre people.

>>22458
They hired a mediocre driver to boost their own stocks and sales.

>>22454
>It’s horrible negotiating with Toto – because his tactic is to just disappear,” laughs the former Mercedes driver. “So if you’re George now trying to get hold of him, Toto’s already gone. He even knows how to avoid the blue ticks.” Apparently, no special WhatsApp settings required for the Silver Arrows’ team boss.
>With a grin, Rosberg adds: “As soon as your message pops up on his screen, he’ll only read the first few words and won’t even open it properly. I remember that well from my time – it was always his style: vanish, don’t reply, be unreachable. And that’s horrible, because it gives you no chance.”
Damn Toto is a cunt to his drivers, but i guess that's to be expected.

>>22456
I think his comments about Kimi having too many distractions is completely fair.
He had his school buddies over in the paddock and was even still studying for exams not long ago. If he was doing great all of that could be forgiven, but he's not.

>>22476
There's plenty to chose from
WEC (BoP sometimes dictates who'll win)
Indy (right now it's going through its own F1 2023 season)
NASCAR (the last laps are the most entertaining)
-Mexico (the ovals suck, 90% of the field are shitters)
-Canada (very small grid)
-Europe (mostly road courses)
-Brazil (I have the least info on this one)
MotoGP (Marquez/Ducati wins lol is in full force atm)
IMSA (FCY procedure is too much sometimes)
Stock Car Brasil (good racing, some tracks are too small for the amount of cars)
Sprint cars (sometimes the streams suck, otherwise entertaining)
Turismo Carretera (A LOT of sub categories, apparently the top class sucks now)
Super GT and Super Formula (I can't ever watch them live because of schedule)
WRC (same as above except for Rally Chile)
There's also GTO, Porsche Cup, Ferrari Cup and much more to explore.
>>22477
I rooted for him until the end, but the debacle that made him lose the seat was embarrasing for everyone involved.

Stock Car Brasil is really good if you just want pure racing and don't care much for production values. Also alot of old BR F1 drivers are there if you care about that sorta thing too.

Recently its been expanding a bit to other LatAM countries, there were some races in Argiland and Urgay

Formula Truck is pretty funny too.

>“That's why I had nothing really to add, ever. But I think it's time to stop all of the rumours. For me, it's always been quite clear that I was staying anyway.
>“That was also the general feeling in the team anyway. We were always in discussions about what we could do with the car.
>“When you're not interested in staying, you stop talking about these kind of things, and I never did.”

What would it be? Will race control back pedal on its decisions a bit if it rains again?

>>22522
I actually heard on FP2 today an interesting fact from one of the BR commentators, who is a motorsport driver and such.

The big problem with FIA and Wet racing right now is a mix of 2 things.
Pirelli tires suck cock and they disintegrate with ease, so to compensate, alot of requirements were made by FIA to have less abrasive asphalt on tracks and this new mix alot of modern tracks are using is very impermeable, so the water has no actual place to escape. Before, like in Interlagos, alot of tracks had tiny holes in the asphalt that allowed for water to flow down and lower the spray.

Now with alot of tracks, the water goes nowhere and alot of fucking spray goes up which completely kills visibility, making Wets a complete joke since you can never use them on the times you are ment to use them because of this.

>>22523
Why not just make a tire that doesn't suck dick. It's cheaper than resurfacing every track in the world.

stroll! surge
>>22523
next year with the simplified floors maybe we can get better (smaller) spraying and wet racing is back in the menu, but I'm not holding my breathe for that

>TV direction goes to Sir Hamilton early as he's readying his lap so we can see his glorious run
>goes wide at T1 and aborts
kek

>>22525
Maybe make them go and drive in the rain and they will engineer a car capable of driving in a sprinkle. It the same with wet tires. Make them drive in the rain they will be used. As of now interns are used because everyone knows they will red flag if there is any amount of water.

>Mclel tops all 3 FPs
>Max not even close
yeah I'm thinking this will be a slurper

>>22523
>Pirelli tires suck cock and they disintegrate with ease, so to compensate, alot of requirements were made by FIA to have less abrasive asphalt
So if I got this right, we've got FOM asking Pirelli to make their tires shit for the entertainment, and then we've got FIA who're forced to make the tracks smoother so they won't destroy the tires too much? That's peak clownery.

>>22523
>>22529
>So if I got this right, we've got FOM asking Pirelli to make their tires shit for the entertainment, and then we've got FIA who're forced to make the tracks smoother so they won't destroy the tires too much? That's peak clownery.

idk, sounds like a half truth to me.
Maybe that BR commentator knows more but the reason often stated for the spray is the cars themselves, someone even posted a comparison picture of an older redbull and a newer one and it was a big difference.

More water on the track = more spray
But the cars still have to be the biggest factor, here's to hoping next regs will fix it (they won't, why would they even consider it).

>>22672
Makes sense, thanks lads.
>>22673
Please not another delay slurper.

>>22673
after Spa slurper Id rather have no rain

>>22670
Let's assume we've got 5 numbers:
8 4 2 1 60

To compute the average you just sum them all (75) and divide by the count (5), which here gives you 15.

To compute the median you simply sort them:
1 2 4 8 60
Then you delete numbers from the extremes, one at a time, until you only end up with the number in the middle (4), and that's your median.

As you see, the median is a bit wonky but it doesn't suffer the influence of a single big number thrown in the bunch, so it's used more often than the average in statistics.

>>22676
Now that you guys explain it so well i remember learning it in HS a million years ago.

>>22673
I know they were cautious last week because of Spa's reputation of death. Hungary should be able to have a wet race, at least that's what I want to believe.

Yes it fucking matters, you get to be immortalized

>>22946
Rest of what he said there makes sense.
These guys go trough 50+ interviews a day on race weeks, so its not suprising they say something kinda weird sometimes.
Maybe he was reading reddit just before idk.

>>22947
has hamilton ever said something that stupid about his own job? has max? has seb? schumi? alonso?
it's a statement made to protect himself if he fails to win the championship
>tehe I don't really care if I win or not

ofcourse it doesn't fucking matter, nothing matters if you don't give a shit
he's such a weakminded bitch.

someone on the other site mentioned that his girl has been railed by half the national football team and I felt bad for him when I read that but now I don't

>>22948
>has hamilton ever said something that stupid about his own job?

I agree with you but Hamilton's "I'm useless and Ferrari needs a new driver" is pretty bad for your job

>>22948
>has seb?
After becoming a climate activist he started saying stuff like F1 is just driving around in circles and that its not important.

>>22949
sure but Hamilton is getting the ferrari experience after struggling with merc for 3 years which came after 8 years of dominance.

>>22950
sebs shift in focus from a pure racist to climate activist was cope from failing

Both hamilton and seb had in common a hunger for winning and ruthlessness in their early days, which I respect alot.
They both achieved great things in the sport THEN started acting weakminded

Lando is in contention of the WDC and acts like it doesn't matter. Absolutely bizarre statement from someone in a competitive sport with a very meager CV to his name.
If you don't care about winning or losing you shouldn't be competing.

>>22951
In the article linked by brazilanon Lando says he does care and wants to win but doesn't want to play mind games with ps3.
I guess you could call that weakmind.

All i know is if Lando wins i'll finally know what it felt like watching Damon Hill win.

jorj might be onto something here, leclerc was too cryptic in his messages and then was pretty tame when he got the private talk by the team

>>22967
People talk about Norizz but Leclerc legit sounds like a spoiled kid to me.

Nico proved on his podium race you can disagree with a decision and not comply if you think it's wrong as long as you explain it with good reason. Hell, even Bottas would sometimes ignore team orders.

Chuck instead just does everything Ferrari tells him without thinking, then shitflings on radio with his meltdowns, as if to avoid all blame. Ferrari are shit at strategy but if Leclerc knows this, he should be more firm about his positions.

>>22917
Well ps3 has the tool and ability, he will just have to develop a WDC mentality to use them since he is clearly marked by those in power to place behind Lando. They coddle Norris constantly just to get him driving. Hell he lost two spots in lap one and they still fabricated a win for him.

>>22960
The British bias is real. They spent half the race simping for Hamilton and the other half sucking off Norris despite his usual shit start.

>>22968
He must be incredibly frustrated driving around for years in a car that is never quite good enough to content for a title. That and anyone would lose their mind driving for ferrari.

imagine this.
You are gonna compete in formula 1 for 20 seasons total
You will win 2 championships.
When would you want to win them?
Early career?
Middle?
End?

(yes this is inspired by alonsos current situation)

>>22975
always later.
Winning it late feels like a much bigger victory and gives you alot more respect that you never gave up chasing that dream. Just look at Hulk winning his first podium, how much celebration that had, or how Lauda winning in 84 was considered a god tier win.

>>23041
People are complaining less because there is a actual wdc fight unlike 2023.
Also, ps3 and norris aren't that bad, just a tier below max (like everybody else)

>>23037
I hate this goblin

>>23041
This season is closer to the 14' 15' or 16' seasons than any max season barring '21.
While it's only really a battle between two drivers in the same team it's not nearly as uneven as it was during 22' or 23'.
Max is mathematically still in contention for the title but it's looking more grim than it did for lando last year.

With all of this said though, the br*t*sh bias is strong and if, god forbid, lando were to go on to win every remaining race or their domination continues next reg, the br*ts will not call this out.

>>23044
>there is a actual wdc fight
I wish, they won't even let them fight properly.

>>23047
How so? The only times i can think of where they even slightly interfered where the two times ps3 nearly drove into norris.
I don't believe mclaren is trying to sabotage ps3, if thats what you're referring to.

>>23048
>where the two times ps3 nearly drove into norris
I mean those, yeah. Proper fighting is bound to bear some risks, especially when you have two cars with about the same speed, but mclaren want none.

>>23049
I suspect the team cares about securing a 1-2 and thats why they get anxious when one of their drives tries to pull a move that was never going to work.
They almost got a double dnf when lando crashed into ps3 a couple of races ago.

>>23050
>I suspect the team cares about securing a 1-2
That's reasonable, sure. It's just not something we can say leads to a "proper fight, no holds barred" between the team's drivers.

>>23041
I hate this delusion so much. 2022-2023 were some of the most boring years of F1 ever.
If you like Max thats fine, 2021 was kino, but McLaren is nowhere near as bad as some of Mercedes's worst years or Red Bull Rocket ship.

>>23046
Know what's funny? Mathematically, speaking all drivers up to Tsunado can still be WDC this year.

>>23051
Fat Brown said they expect their drivers to clash at some point and are not trying to prevent that at all cost.
We'll see how they act when the real battle begins after summer break, but so far i'd say mclaren has done alright in terms of letting them race.

He helped Max win the title super hard in 2021 and also got a few wins himself, that's better then every other Max team mate ever.

What the actual fuck is wrong with the Piquets

>>23101
>He helped Max win the title
Yes.
>super hard
Anon please, he was invisible during most of the races. He did his job as a second driver, but barely.
I agree with the rest though.

>>23103
I'm specifically talking Abu Dhabi 2021. A guy did a video on it with telemetry + on board and Perez basically raced all of that GP just to fuck Hamilton.

Here, it's pretty short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QqeLJmeZOc

>>23104
That's part of his "helped max win the title", yeah.
The point is that with AD21 he made up for barely helping him for the rest of the year, Lulu would have got nowhere near amx's points by the last race if checo had stolen a few points more often.
Just look at his results, they're clear as day.

>>23105
Yeah thats fair enough, i was just talking AD 2021 but didn't explicit that well enough.

>>23106
I see, it's all good.

Perez and Bottas are both 35+ years old and have now been out for a whole year with no racing at all.
Can they even still be considered safe pairs of hands to just keep the car on track with no crashes? That is all they might have going for them, but even that must be doubtful now, especially for Perez. Maybe Bottas can still be relied upon to put it into P19 every race without hitting the barriers, we'll see if he gets signed.

>>23101
I will never forget checos contribution to max winning the title, holding up lewis and then giving max drs at AD was huge (although it didn't matter much in the end).
But he is and always was a midfield driver at best. Even if the car was difficult during his final years at RB some of his mistakes were just embarrassing.

also hated how much hype he was getting early this season when liam/yuki was doing badly, most people forgot how often he was completely irrelevant during the races.

>>23108
during bottas final years I got the impression that he is pretty stable as a driver, but not very fast.
if both of them are comfortable with the car I think checo would be faster, but also more prone to errors, neither has good racecraft

>>23108
Hulkenberg is 37 and was out of F1 and is racing well, both Bottas and Perez would do fine

>>23109
>although it didn't matter much in the end
I don't really feel like rewatching the race to make sure, but iirc it got amx close enough to scare lewis into not going for a pit stop when the SC came out.

>>23098
