AI War is an asymmetric strategy game where a player(s) squares off against two AI's in an almost hopeless battle. You get to conquer the entire galaxy in an extreme underdog scenario. Some people even called it the Dark Souls of strategy games - completely seriously. Anyway, it's really hard and it's got multiplayer, so obviously let's play it.

Get it on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/40400/AI_War_Fleet_Command/ (75% off until Jan 5)
Get it on GOG: https://www.gog.com/en/game/ai_war_collection
There's crossplay between Steam and GOG, so it doesn't matter which one you get. You'll need all expansions to make it work out.

Here's a good video summarizing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWVqfdG3uTY There's a good wiki if you look and a bunch of tutorials in-game to get you started.

If you dudes live in Russialand I can gift you a copy on Steam. You'll have to link your profile for me to add you. Otherwise, I'm sorry, I can't gift across regions and I don't wanna yo-ho-ho things or promote that anymore. Don't worry about ping, unless it's an extreme case it doesn't really get all that bad (if it does, there's game settings to compensate. Sorry, Venezuela-anon.) Also, it's sysreqs are so low it can probably run on a thinkpad.

We can do a multiplayer game at Friday, at around 11 AM GMT. https://time.is/GMT . I'll try to post it here if it happens, or if there's some emergency you'll hear about it. Cheers, dudes.

Here's some screenshots just to show you what it's like. There's a lot of macro, but not a lot of micro.

And you get this little minimap to see the whole galaxy! Scout ships are required to see all the little details on the map, hence why most of it is white. You can set priorities from P0 to P9 too, and all the players in the game can see those. There's also planet names and descriptions!

Managed to get some gifts for you all! First two people to send a message to this email will get it. If you're quick, you might even get something extra! Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!

In case some people don't get this - there's some global version gifts, not just russian. I'm sorry if it's the misunderstanding!

>>1925
I'll try and be there, but my sleep schedule's a bit skewed towards snoozing though it.
>>1928
You're very generous, always feel too shy to accept gifts. I'll snag one tomorrow if the lazybones still haven't taken them. This is my warning to all snoozers.

>>1925
Game looks interesting, I'd try it out. I don't think I can sell enough steam cards so I'll gladly accept gift proposal - https://steamcommunity.com/id/zhuzhelitzadesu/

Added.

Progress is slow, but steady. I've been joined by a person from the thread, too. They've been a good help - I hope I was useful to them.

Incidentally, no one sent a mail to get their gift over at >>1928 yet. It might be your chance to do so.

Thanks for sending the mail over, please enjoy the game! May our Lord watch over you!

Now, let's have a game start in about an hour or so. Let's write up a quick guide thingathingy so you're not all totally lost if you just joined a game outta the box. Y'know, assuming we get any players.

-Start of the game
If you don't know what you're doing, I suggest choosing a Role: Helper instead from the menu. It's a spectator mode but you get to control other people's stuff. You'll get stuff to do for sure, so don't worry if you think it'll be boring. If you want your own faction, however, pick a single system and a bonus ship line to start the game out with. I suggest taking one of these ships: Plane, Bombard, Neinzul Combat Carrier, Bulletproof, Sniper.

-System view
You can scroll through the system view by holding a middle mouse button and dragging the mouse. Click and drag the left mouse button to select objects and use the right mouse button to move the ones that can. You can also move your view through wormholes by holding ctrl + left clicking them. Simple, right?

-Galaxy view
You can switch between viewing systems and the galaxy map by pressing TAB. In the galaxy map, you can switch to viewing certain systems by clicking on them with LMB. You can also assign move orders to ships by right-clicking a desired system.

-AI Progress
This game's premise is that you're fighting a lost cause war against two AI's. They've captured everything, they're tied up on the other end of the bunch of galaxies they've got and they don't care that you exist. They're too busy for that. But once they DO decide to crush the humans, the players lose. AI Progress is a representation of how much the AI's care about the players. It's raised once you destroy AI Command Stations in order to capture systems, Warp Gates to prevent waves, a variety of other structures. It's also raised if the players fail to protect certain key structures - and with time, though very slowly. It's not an RTS where you can destroy every Command Station and win - the players have to decide what to take. Otherwise, a fully upgraded AI will not hesitate to present an almost unwinnable scenario.

-Metal and Energy
To build most structures in the game, players need Metal. It's mined infinitely and constantly from your planets. The rate of mining is slow, however, so be careful about not overspending it. Energy is required by certain ships and structures for their upkeep. Unlike Metal, it's a more or less constant number instead of something you mine - and it's not spent on construction, but for keeping things running. Every ship and structure takes some amount of energy to maintain - if you ever run into the negatives, things like your forcefields and turrets stop working. Try to steer clear of that!

-Science
To get most of this game's useful things, you have to research them with science. Every planet provides up to 3000 science that you can mine using buildable Science Labs. There's stuff like better ships, starships, turrets, etc etc. To get more science, you have to capture more planets, and by capturing more planets you raise AI Progress more each time. There are also other ways to obtain it, but they present their own difficulties.

-Waves
The AI will send players waves full of enemy ships from time to time. There's usually a lot of them, so defending against them usually requires the players to funnel them all into one heavily-fortified planet. A wave can't be sent to a planet if a system has all warp gates on all adjacent planets destroyed, so clearing warp gates is nice. There is also a command station that prevents Waves from spawning to that planet. You can check the enemy ship strength of an upcoming wave at the top of the screen at the Wave counter. The Attack counter is for checking an enemy ship strength that are already in your systems.

-Threat
Usually, AI ships sleep at their locations in the AI systems. However, if you wake them up by attacking or otherwise provoking them, they join something called a Threat fleet. This fleet roams around your systems and looks for an opportunity to strike - usually when you're the most occupied or you least expect it. You can see it on the galaxy map with Detected Threat filter. There are more ways for ships to join Threat Fleet, but the safest way to deal with it is to eliminate it when you see that they're a problem. Threat counter is for checking Threat fleet strength. If you hover over it, you can also see where most of it is.

-Winning the game
To win the game, players have to destroy both AI Home Command Stations. They're really far into the galaxy and tough to get to, so let's expand carefully. Once all Human Home Command Stations are destroyed, players lose the game. Let's avoid this.

I'll start hosting the game in two hours, at 1 PM GMT. https://time.is/GMT . Hopefully that'll give people enough time to get their bearings and, you know, join. For the meantime, take it easy! Maybe play a tutorial or something. Cheers y'all!

Game's up at 94.188.40.99:32320 . Lobby'll be up for at least 10 minutes. Get in!

Note: There is no drop-in, but if you spam the thread, we can make room for you to join for like 5 minutes. Everyone will wait during that time. geddin

We're starting. Remember, if you post here, we can make room for you to connect for a short time. After all, the game's paused while we wait for you.

And that marks the end of today's session! We got a lot done, getting a lot of ground and repelling AI's assault. I'm looking forward to meeting you all again tomorrow at the same time, at 1 PM GMT https://time.is/GMT .

Amazingly, there's still one gift left for anyone else who'd want to join. For free. Use the e-mail.

The game is up at the same IP - 94.188.40.99:32320 . Get in - there's 10 minutes of wait time!

Today's game was a bit shorter, but we got a lot done. Catch you all tomorrow, same time same place.

Game up again. Same ip as over at >>1942

Alright, that failed. We started a new one. I'll host again tomorrow, same time!.

How goes the AI w… oh

>>1948
Unfortunately this baka is going to be snoozing through the whole saga at this rate. Good luck.

94.188.40.99:32320 - the game is up. Let's go.

Well~~~~

Yeah. I mean, we started a new one, but it keeps happening. Let's be more thorough this time. I'll host same time tomorrow!

94.188.40.99:32320 - lobby up for 10-15 min

Think this one can turn out well. See you all tomorrow, same time.

asdasdasd get in same ip >>1953

So what happened was, we captured this nomad planet for 9000 science, then it carted it's way to an AI homeworld. THIS AI CORE ENGINE GUARD POST started activating because it detected the nomad planet not belonging to the AI, which started to generate about 20 thousand fleet ships to threat every four minutes. The rest was basically watching an AI stomp us.

So yeah, don't capture Nomad planets unless you have a plan (we didn't)! See you all tomorrow, same time.

short game today! but we've progressed

>16 users lurking in the last 10 minutes!

you can still get the game if you send me an email, otherwise I'll probably give it to figamin
presents are really meant to be given

>go home from work extremely tired
>wait around an hour till 2 pm GMT
>the other dude doesn't show, says that he'll be on a bit later next time
>sleep takes me
so yeah, I realize now that I can't host this game in 1/2 PM GMT anymore on account of not being able to do macro/micro this stuff after 10+ hours of work and transit. I can host at around 10-11 pm GMT, when I awaken from sleep and before work. Or I dunno, around that time. I can adjust, for you.

Anyway, I discussed this with the other guy and he can't make it during that time. Let's try to play today at 2 PM GMT anyway and see how it turns out.

94.188.40.99:32320 - lobby UP

Lobby's up, same IP as >>1968 . Sorry for not posting progress, it's somewhat slow with 2 hours per day sessions.

It's a slow, yet persistent grind. We've conquered the upper annex - AI won't send their assault there now. However, some other puny humans or something want our help. They're threatening to explode us via AI annihilation if we don't capture and subdue them. Can we make it in time to capture them?!? Find out on the next episode of AI War Z!

Notice in advance: tomorrow there will be no host at 2 pm. Please join up the day after tomorrow!

asdasdasd get in same ip >>1953 (You) (You) (You) (You)

If anyone's wondering what's going on, we didn't die. We got everyone's contacts, so this board wouldn't get spammed every time there's a need for three people to get together. You can still spam this thread and join in that way at 2 PM, though.

Anyway, we got some things done. We gave up on expanding into the lower annex and secured some space. There's some very tasty fabricators - MLRS Tier 5 ships, Space Tank Tier 5 ships, Tier 5 Flaks and Spiders. We're practically near the AI Homeworlds now.

This game is kinda fun!

anyway we failed.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS LIST:

Played a Warp Jumper (!) game
Turned the game into an RTS by clearing almost every planet
Captured tons of fabs and special goodies
Parried numerous Cross Planet Attacks's
Deleted one AI homeworld, almost deleted another
Ran out of metal near the finish line and lost
Reached an AIP score of 1500+
Blew up giant AI fleets with nuclear missiles on our own planets (4+ TIMES)
Got overwhelmed and perished in a blaze of glory

see you next time…
