April Showers with Suwako!

Hisoutensoku is an expansion to Touhou 10.5, made by Tasofro with ZUN's approval. It's a fast paced fighting game featuring all your favorites from the Touhou Project.

I've setup the game myself so all you have to do is download https://files.wapchan.org/sokupack.zip, run SokuLauncher.exe, and choose the first option (Giuroll). May need to update the launcher first.

Thank you

Since we have a rule against AI art I figured it would be important to clarify that I won't be banning people or deleting posts for posting stuff ZUN put in Touhou 19/20. My personal view is very much against the use of it but it wouldn't do anyone here good to just ban the discussion of it outright especially since it's such a big franchise.

ZUN has gone full grifter-jew mode. Now copyright striking people posting the OST on youtube.

Context. Context. Context.
Instead of jumping on a retarded flamewar starting with a twatter screencap and buzzwords, I think I'll give this a month for actual information to come in. Fortunately, you have several threads on 4chan to choose from if you're looking for a shouting match based on speculation.

In case you didn't know, ZUN had to deal with a nasty copyright issue because the bank of stock images he bought actually contained copyrighted material. It's likely why just decided to say "fuck it, I'm not using stock images anymore, I'll just AI generate them"

Pretty much done with Touhou, was basically crazy about it up until the news dropped last week. I don't see much of a point continuing to discuss it, the fanworks empower the games while the games fuel the fanwork, continuing to participate in this subculture will just fund and legitimize another AI dev. They never stop at backgrounds, there's no future for this series. I guess that goes for all "big" series, should they be given an out for being bigger than the average AI vagrant? I'd say no, because what's put on display here isn't what made the series good nor beloved, it's just something generated by a third party. Maybe many of you would forgive him if he backpedals, but for me I feel like even getting into these controversies is a failure of character, and it doesn't look like he's being remorseful sending his lawyer dog out to silence critics.

They should be called out, they should be forced into the mature realization that it's time to abandon Touhou, there's no use in continuing to waste your life on a person who hates you

Hey /djn/ have you ever played Jigoku Kisetsukan? It's a Touhou inspired bullet hell game and it turns 10 years old in two days. For a while it was the closest thing you could get to a Touhou game on Steam before they started allowing those there.
Soundtrack's pretty good

Don't think we've done a proper /vnt/ event yet, so for this month (running from April 3rd - May 3rd) we are doing a high score challenge for Touhou 6 (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil)!
If you don't have this game, it's pretty easy to find with google or nyaa. I recommend using an English patch.
Very simple to participate - just upload a replay (results screenshot is optional). Make sure the replay is the only file you upload or it won't be attached (will try and fix this soon) Be nice. Don't cheat.
I've played this game a few times over the past few years, but have finally started to try and get decent enough to 1CC (still only on easy with max lives and bombs). I'm sure at least a few of you can beat this with higher difficulties.
Top players will be immortalized on a soon to be added static page.
If someone feels like making OC (not reposting existing stuff) they might get on that page too. Get shooting!

It's a little bit of everything. Aside from the gameplay, music, art (despite people poking fun at it), cute girls, and being in the right place at the right time on 2000s internet, I think it grew because the world is as open-ended as it is. There isn't a cool plot or any defining climax, and at the end of every incident everything goes back to the status quo, but that's why it's so appealing. Gensokyo is a world, not like those made by modern worldbuilders who over-detail everything from the start without any purpose and think they're going to be the next Tolkien, but like Wind in the Willows: a place you can daydream of, between old and new, between fantasy and reality, and as whimsical as can be. What you see in the games and writings is just a portrait, a brief snapshot of that world, but the rest is on the other side. Artists and writers and even completely unskilled fans latched onto that so they could explore it.
Seeing picrel this morning helped me put it into words. They're on some whimsical errand in their old-fashioned motor car, and you can imagine what happens before, during, and after. At the end, everything turns out fine. I daydream a lot, so this is all a personal view, but I think Touhou is something stronger than fantasy: it's a fairy tale. That's what makes it different and special.

If you want to see a small part of how it grew, here's an oekaki board that goes back to before PCB was released. It's fun seeing people make art for characters as they come out. https://coolier.net/oekaki/191.htm

To keep it on-topic after all that, I'm working on my first lunatic no-bomb run and Remilia is a big jerk.

your story is interesting to me
what did you think of Hotline Miami [2]?

lol if you actually read this

Hoo boy, The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil… My first contact with the actual Touhou experience back in December of 2021, when I had finally to take the dive. The first 1CCs came on January of 2022, on Normal; between April and July, I achieved all Hard 1CCs and Extra clears in that game. EoSD was fun to play.

This is absolutely not a scoring-focused run, but it is still my highest-scoring regular run through the game. Have some Hard ReimuB.
…or you would, if my file could be accepted. 'Unknown file extension', wapchan reports. Am I missing something?

>>1119
Honestly just forgot to add the extensions when I moved to vichan a while back since this thread was kinda dead. Here's a test file from https://maribelhearn.com/gensokyo

Much appreciated! Here's the replay file due for >>1119.

Why is Ryukishi such a hack nowadays?
>Higurashi reduced to bad spinoffs
>Umineko gets a weird stageplay
>Phase 2 never

>>749
i was under the impression that the real brains behind his projects died in like 2010 and took all the series's good ideas with him to the grave.

>>749
>Higurashi reduced to bad spinoffs
Greed. Plain and simple.
Once he saw how much the gatcha game made all bets were off for that series.

>Umineko gets a weird stageplay

He's always had an interest in stage plays. Rose Guns Days had one too and Higurashi started as a stage play script.

>Phase 2 never

I want to believe he'll make it after Silent Hill f but he probably doesn't have a reason to go back after he gets his Konami money + whatever he made from milking Higurashi.

>>762
You mean that friend of his, who died during Umineko and R07 dedicated the Answer Arcs to him? Due to the sudden tone shift in Umineko, rumour has it that R07's friend was a ghostwriter for Higurashi and Umineko Question Arcs.

Still, I consider Rose Guns Days as R07's best work

Originally it was intended as terraria server for people from 4chan's touhou threads, but considering recent events and that I spotted few people from there here on Wapchan, I might as well make a thread for it here and invite all wapanons too!
It's lightly modded server, only has thematic touhou mods and some QoL, server progressed a bit in hardmode by now.
In order to play, get Terraria 1.4.4.9 wherever you like, then download latest stable version of tmodloader https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases?ysclid=m9mq4usqdl160626231 and put it next to Terraria folder (not into it). Then, conenct to cumfart.duckdns.org:10800, mods will load automatically on connect. Don't mind the address, I thought it was very funny and now I can't really change it since it is in use for some time already.
Server is up everyday 5-19 GMT, but if two or more people ask for it, it can stay up during night as well.
Webmrel from previous similar server

>>157
Just saw how three people joined and left server in quick succession but not meeting each other, kinda funny. Anyways server is down for this night till tomorrow!

>>157
Do one of the mods give you Touhou movement? A hold for focused fire and slow movement kind of thing. I always thought that would be fun in Terraria, especially if there are spell card mods.

>>159
Closest thing I've seen is this mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2824293953&ysclid=m9nvbr0qaq315721034
But balance-wise it's suboptimal since spellcards were optimized for terraria hitbox and are dodgeable just fine. This mod would make them almost completely harmless.

Figured I should make a thread for this. If anyone is familiar with these games, what are your hopes for Episode 4? Favorite girl and music? For those who aren't. It's a spiritual successor to the Touhou Gendanshou series by the same dev, INSIDE SYSTEM. I'll follow up with some of the bonus animations from the remaster of the first game in the next post

Some of my favorite tracks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luJt6OQTZeI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKUYQEngKXw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAc51SGSFp0

The third one in particular is from Brave Dungeon which is a spin-off RPG where you control the boss girls from throughout the series. The first game is extremely tight-paced and simple, the second is more ambitious and grindy
