Not every chapter got adapted and some of the ones that did got adjusted to be a bit less evocative of abuse, but all in all, I think they did fine with Ryunosuke.

Rumiko added Ryu-chan instead of starting a new comic because she was bored of UY. Ryu actually fits the new setting and theme of the series which is revolving around the whacky hijinks at Tomobiki high school. Benten is more of a left-over from the original design where the comic would revolve around alien-yokai that show up and harass Ataru because he's unlucky.

 

The body was too short or empty.
