Hello! This might be premature and the site will be back up before Wednesday, but I wanted to see if any of the people who read my threads on /a/ would prefer I stick to my schedule and post the first volume of Rinne this Wednesday here or simply delay it until the site is back up. If the site goes back up, I'll probably redo it.

I removed /lum/ a while back to try and consolidate the board. But maybe we can actually revive this place. This won't be a strictly UY board (since all rumic threads reference eachother), and OC is heavily encouraged! I'll be moving all the old posts here.

I first visited wapchan ages ago, through lummy I believe(I don't raid tho, just a lurker). And then forget about it because our interests didn't overlap that much. But I found here through reverse image searching one of these lum edits. Oh what a small world.

We know Rumiko has an interest in mythology, and that Lum, Benten, and Oyuki, are clear parllels to real world mythological figures. Ran is the odd-one out and for 40 years fans have tried to figure out which specific mythological creature Ran actually is.

She has some kind of life-drain kiss so she's a Succubus? Is that the European variety or a Japanese one? No one's ever been able to pin her down exactly.

It's entirely possible Rumiko didn't think of anything specific so it's a red-herring.

Rumiko added Ryu-chan instead of starting a new comic because she was bored of UY. Ryu actually fits the new setting and theme of the series which is revolving around the whacky hijinks at Tomobiki high school. Benten is more of a left-over from the original design where the comic would revolve around alien-yokai that show up and harass Ataru because he's unlucky.
