I believe she has actual crow's wings growing out of her head, but as the series goes on, the animators and Rumiko kinda forgot, and it looks more like she just has this goth hairstyle going on.

She's a crow-goblin and human hybrid, rather than a pure blooded native crow goblin. It's relevant since her race are these tiny little crows (even the women). This means her samurai dad stuck his penis into one of these little crow ladies, and out popped Kurama. This might be why they had trouble finding a mate for her.
