Oh great now I have to watch every single UY episode just in case I don’t know someone
>>3204I always found these picture-of-a-character based captchas funny. But at least this captcha names you the character whose appearance you need to look up, so it's pretty usable.
>>3204It's literally just Lum from UY all the rest are from other anime
>>3206Given that spam is manually posted, its only a matter of time that the unwanted pizza man will figure it out. All he has to do is use a search engine.
>>3209We'll have to see
There's already so many barriers against the spam that this may be enough to get them to move on to easier targets
>>3210If it doesn't work the only solution left is to implement a system that flags potentially nsfw images for review like a certain website about bald screaming ms paint men
>>3211It wouldn’t work as they will still leave the link anyways
>>3212Their links are easy to filter, and the worst part about the bots are the images anyway.
Why are people calling kiddie porn CSAM all of a sudden? Sounds like some kind of naval weapon.
>>3215It's the more formal term used these days, probably because not all instances are necessarily pornographic
>>3216So basically, they are stretching the word to include more things? Sooner or later anime with 17 year old high school kids will be CSAM. You laugh but its coming.
Are the images from some booru? I had a challenge where I had to mark Osaka but one of the images was not her, but someone else doing the famous "OH MY GAH" face.
I made the captcha less of a pain by adding a 30 minute verification cookie after each successful completion.
>>3221I just picked characters I figured people would know, while also having enough images for variation
Might change if up if I get suggestions (though some don't have enough viable images to work with)
>>3221Anon it's fairly easy to google, so don't worry about it. Modern generations may not know, but back in wakaba days we used to solve captcha a hundred times a day. It's really easy.
>>3225That's too far back, anon!
New homepage is cool but please fix the new page it rapes your ears the moment you open it
>>3227This has been fixed
>>3228Also that text rotation was cool, why did you remove it? Doesn't show at least on mobile. Can you please bring it back?
>>3228fix the issue of captcha images blocking verify button on mobile please
>>3230You will need to tell me what platform/browser you are using because I cannot replicate this on android (chrome or firefox)
>>3231I'm on iOS system using both safari and chrome, it seems choosing images on the left column or the top row will cause this problem
(ignore the chinknese)
>>3232Seems like Safari sucks and doesn't respect the aspect-ratio CSS setting like other browsers. You can try reloading the page now, it should be usable.
>>3203Now this is soulful
figamin please add yourself to the captcha
New new captcha is out because the old one got bruteforced easily. Site broke for a bit but it should be good now.
>>3237Capcha on wapchan onion service officially broken. I couldn't post it even though after sucessfully solving the capcha. Another thing is, when I input a fullname of a character that was asked in the capcha, that answer was considered wrong. Why is that?
>>3238Onion posting is probably broken because the captcha makes https calls to the main site, though that shouldn't be too hard to fix so I can do some testing a bit later.
Also you'll need to tell me what you entered that was considered wrong since all the answers are checked against a list I manually put together so I may have missed a few
>>3239Most of the characters doesn't accept fullname in Japanese except 博麗霊夢(Hakurei Reimu). As for Asuka, I think got her fullname wrong because I only entered Asuka Langley instead of Souryuu Asuka Langley.
>>3240It accepted just "Reimu" for me. I'm not even sure if I was correct since her hair was purple.
Not captcha related, but I get this error when posting (the post still goes through).
The server took too long to submit your post. Your post was probably still submitted. If it wasn't, we might be experiencing issues right now – please try your post again later. Error information:
{"readyState":4,"responseText":"$config['url_banner'] = '/b.php';\n$config['anonymous'] = 'Anonymage';\n{\"redirect\":\"\\/tower\\/index.html\",\"noko\":false,\"id\":\"2573\"}","status":200,"statusText":"parsererror"}
This captcha is driving me insane. I don’t even know half of the characters. Maybe I’m not cool enough to post on your cool clubhouse.
>>3254You're not "not cool enough", you just need a few years to grow up and accept that life has rough point. And if you think this picture based captcha is annoying you have never seen a *really* annoying picture based captcha.
>>3265If you have any good suggestions I can add them. I kept it to well known characters since I didn't want it to be too difficult.
Can you add an option to have birds instead of anime characters? It would help me with my studies.
>>3265Hey do you know where I get Galaxy angel without killing all my free space? I've looked around on nyaa and all of the torrents are so big. I want to watch it really bad!
Have any CSAM spammers managed to get past this captcha?
>>3266Just a few off the top of my head. While I had Galaxy Angel on the mind it might be cruel to ask anyone to remember how to spell Milfeulle.
>>3270Sorry no I have the 38 GB release from nyaa.
>>3269Ironically, they have a variant named after her
(That fat Mexican )
loling at this new version
>>3290>there are a bunch of threads that have current replies in them that havent moved up the catalog on their respective boardsThat's probably a glitch, a bunch of old threads were necroed during the raids so the catalog is kinda messed up
>why was cloudflare spazzing here yesterday?DDOS attempt by exactly the people you'd expect. Had to safeguard the site.
>>3269>can hack all of 4chan and shut it down for a week>can't get past a simple image captcha.Something doesn't add up here….
>>3292it's quite simple actually: this site is far more secure than 4chan. you have to remember that part of the reason 4chan got hacked (besides yotsuba being a hacky nightmare of a codebase) was because the version of ghostscript they used was from 2012. as long as this site has up to date packages from even the last year or so it'll be fine. the fact that the admin is proactive also helps.
>>3292I still think the hacker wasn't actually from there. They wouldn't have picked Miku.
>>3294Indeed, are the single ones temporary or permanent?
>>3296iirc they even ran the hacker out of theor site.because it liked anime, the lummy has its days counted inherently by being a community based in hate, thwy will inevitably run out of coal to burn.
anubis seems faster than cloudflare at least, don't know why people bitch about it on other sites
>>3296My schizophrenic conspiracy theory is that the hacker blamed the lummy in an attempt to enshittify it by drawing attention to it. Whether it worked or not I wouldn't be able to tell because to anyone who doesn't use it the site was shit from day one.
>>3322I thought it was something like thst as well. He even chose to not leak anything harmful.
>>3319Anubis is causing issues with the script's thread watcher. It updates threads from other sites OK but Wapchan threads do not have any updates.
Any way you can fix this?
>>3324I'll look into this
>>3319I’ve seen her before on the azur lane wiki, thought it was someone’s OC but now I know
>>3325>>3326Seems to be working for now, thank you.
>>3373I dont even watch that stuff but even i can guess them.
Rika, Ranma and Ran.
>>3374Believe it or not, the 'Rika' answer wasn't accepted. As for the other two, I do watch anime a lot — for decades — and I skipped those two titles entirely.
It also took me a while to remember Satoko's name for yet another captcha, because I've watched Higurashi that long ago and seen dozens of series since (many of which, by the way, included JKs with long black hair, which relates to yet another picture difficulty spike).
I caught myself thinking that I'd rather not respond to a question that some anon asked in another thread, because the discouragement from the captcha was becoming greater than my altruism. This is why I am without any irony wondering what was the expectation and if anons who have difficulty with that captcha are even wanted here.
I, of course, understand the desire to preserve a certain atmosphere and, in fact, the coziness and the nostalgia on which Wapchan runs is exactly what brought me here. But if I am not wanted here because I consistently fail the captcha test, then it ruins the coziness for me, too.
Another issue I've noticed is that this captcha can be bypassed by spamming 'Lum' and refreshing until it gives Lum, because it does so quite often and the answer is right there in the board list.
test
>>3375you need an easy captcha sometimes. besides, it's mostly meant to stop those russian guys from what i can tell.
>>3375Just refresh the captcha until a girl you know appears.
>>3377>mostly meant to stop those russian guysEh? Can you quickly explain what happened? I've discovered Wapchan only recently and I assumed there was just random spam wave.
On a side note:
>Character verification failed.Apparently, not only Rika isn't Rika, but Satoko isn't Satoko too, despite blonde hair, apparent age, and headband. The captcha is glitching.
>>3379Literally every open imageboard is spammed 24/7 by some guys from Vladivostok with the content referred to in the OP and it's been going on for nearly a decade. This includes 4chan but the mods over there catch it so quickly that you don't see it.
>>3381So just the normal CSAM spam wave then. The "those russian guys" sounded like something different.
First big captcha update is now live. Mostly just way more images for each character and cut out ran, kagome and osaka for now, while adding a few more. More will be added soon.
The character variety makes it much nicer both in terms of difficulty curve and fun. Do you plan to keep adding characters in future updates?
>>3391Yes the next wave will be key/tactics vn characters, then 70s & 80s mecha
>>3392That many more refreshes for me then… At least it's not math analysis.
>>3393If you have specific requests for characters I can consider them
>>3394Just a few names that immediately come to mind without thinking too hard: Konata, Akarin, Kafuka, Kino, Lain, Kusanagi, Katsuragi, Asuka, Ritsu, Misaka, Kuroko, Madoka, Aer, Neviril, Dominura, Suiginto, Suiseiseki, Souseiseki, Shinku, Marika, Faye Valentine, Popuko, Pipimi…
Maybe some from that list were added already. These characters all have distinct designs and won't be easily confused with others despite distortion, and they are easier to remember than things from 40 to 50 years ago.
I'd also name a lot more characters from slice-of-life and QGDQT genres if they didn't suffer from the it's-all-the-same-face syndrome.
>>3396I do not know who half of those people are.
>>3397Which is why the greater the number of characters, the better. Because you still know the other half.
Ideally, every other captcha refresh should offer a character that an anime-friendly anon can name without thinking. Leaning too heavily into retro anime won't only filter out bots and haters, but will also create a problem for anons who prefer newer anime. Note that this isn't about what anon watches currently, it's about the earliest that anon can comfortably remember while watching 30+ anime titles a year.
I think, chosen characters should form a bell curve and the bulk of that bell curve should be between years 1995-2007. That way both /cel/ and /digi/ generations will be happy.
So, I want to ask just in case. What happens if I typed "Mion" in Shion's captcha? The system accepted it, but, umm…
>>3439That's it, you are going to the fridge.
