Another year has passed, and Wapchan has just about made it to four.
This year had the greatest challenges the site had ever faced, with handling the traffic from the 4chan downtime and the large scale raid/DDOS from the bald man site. But through it all we managed to make it out with this site being not only more active and well known than ever, but finally SAFE. The last illegal post was over three months ago, as this version of the captcha I developed has been completely effective at its job of stopping that dreaded form of spam (as well as raid attempts).
The biggest surprise of the year was the /sp/ board becoming by far the most active on the site. They adapted very well to the site culture and I'm sure they'll keep at it over the next year.
I also would like to highlight the staff of Kissu for being such great net friends - they're helping keep the /qajp/ spirit alive, and they've helped me here and there when I've needed it. This goes for the rest of the net friends (and the sushis). Thank you to Verniy, 777, syrno, pwohmy, moth, mori, Puzzle, gloot, and the other staff that keeps this part of the imageboard world a place worth your time. And of course, the jannies of wapchan, who rest much easier these days now that they don't have to wake up constantly checking for bot spam.
Another bring spot was the soku tournaments. I'm still not great at that game but it's nice that they've managed to form a community here always up for a match.
This year I read a few great visual novels, worked on a lot of personal projects as well for anyone who follows me on xitter and met a lot of great people who enjoy this same kind of niche content. Thank you to all who make Wapchan the /kind/est imageboard around while still being interesting. It's a tough balancing act but it's something I really believe in.
Moving forward, I'm looking to bring back the IRC in the new year, as well as expand the radio variety. I'm probably going to be less directly focused on developing wapchan now that it runs itself to an extent outside of the occasional captcha bug here and there, but I'm still going to run events and keep this place tidy. I want to commit a substantial amount of time to a few topics:
>Drawing
>Creating YouTube videos
>Learning Japanese
None of these will be easy, but putting consistent effort into them will hopefully pay off.
Here's to another year of wapchan.org!
>>3414Here’s to another year of wapchan, one of my highlights was finished urusei yatsura among other pre-2000 shows and movies
Thank you for 4 years of Wapchan, one of the best boards of the 2020s
Came here during the exodus, and every now and then come back. You guys have something cozy going on, I wish yall the best :)
banzai!
>>3414It was good to be here with you lads!
The lack of CP spam has been a godsend. Thanks fig! I barely post anywhere nowadays but I like browsing this site once in a while. Its a /kind/ and comfy little corner of the otherwise hellish net. Here's to 4 more years!
>>3425Maybe /sp/ should be renamed /vroom/ or /car/ or something? Its all f1 discussion over there. I've been mulling over putting up some threads for other sports but I don't think anyone's really that interested.
>>3427I think its best to keep it open, just in case the future shows interest in other stuff.
Maybe stuff like the Football world cup coming up strikes some interest in anons.
>>3427The idea is that other sports are welcome too, but realistically we need other generals to migrate here for it to work.
>>3428>Football world cupThat could be fun.
>>3428It would be cool if there were other motorsports besides f1 or maybe retro f1 (is that a thing?). We need monster trucks or something. Why don't we have a monster truck general? Not that I know anything about them.
>>3429The general for my sport on 4bully is pretty awful. On a side note, I think stealing generals from other sites isn't always a great idea. Sometimes its better to create something new.
I've been trying to think of an old school sport that'd be in keeping with wap's retro theme but I can't really come up with one enough of a profile for people to watch.
>>3430Well, retro f1 is already covered in the thread, german anon put up a stream of various old seasons in full to watch too.
>>3430You are welcome to post about all motorsports in the /f1/ threads.
>I think stealing generals from other sites isn't always a great ideaTrue, but 4/f1/ is pretty awful too and we managed to adjust to wap just fine. The people who couldn't fit in got banned or left.
>>3414>the /sp/ boardthank you for having us and for hosting this wonderful website
have a fantastic 2026 everyone, may every wish come true for you
>>3430Would be cool if there were niche sports like sumo or something
>>3414Omedetou, figamin! Thank you for everything, I hope wap has another good year
HAPPY NEW YEAR
