Don't come to me just 'cause you're lonely tonight,
Lonely's only part of your game.
As long as you live you must remember one thing,
Give and take are one and the same.
So tell me are you ready, really really ready,
I don't want your love for one niiight.

'CAUSE I'M NOT LOOKING FOR A LOVE AFFAIR,
I NEED THE MAGIC WHEN I HOLD YOU NEAR!
IT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN A ONE NIGHT STAND,
I NEED THE MAGIC WHEN I TOUCH YOUR HAAAND!

I'M NOT LOOKING FOR A LOVE AFFAIR,
I NEED THE MAGIC WHEN I HOLD YOU NEAR!
IT'S MORE IMPORTANT THAN A ONE NIGHT STAND,
I NEED THE MAGIC WHEN I TOUCH, TOUCH YOUR HAAAAAAAAAAAND!

I want to watch all the classic and cult classic releases from the golden age but don't know where to start. Anyone have any recommendations?

Actually I think the dub REMOVED music from scenes. It's been a while since I last watched it but I remember that stuck out when switching between the sub and dub.

Just action, romance, and sex. Never been into robots.

Well...still Dirty Pair. I liked Urashiman a lot, it's a goofy future cop show.

Fist of the North Star is a classic if you can handle some shonen pacing

Maison Ikokku is my favourite Takahashi and is one of the few to have a good ending

Project A-Ko is pretty much the perfect anime

If you can avoid Zeiram the world of Iria seems pretty nice.

Or Megazone 23, with its eternal 80s Japan (the height of human civilization)

If you said you wanted to be a character, I'd say, 'yes', but since you asked, then fuck no. You have to be you.

>>2153
I've not seen that show. Is it any good, or just a neat world that you'd like to live in?

>>2151
Am i isekai'd into that world and do i keep my knowledge about the series and characters intact, or am i literally reborn as a baby?

On second, do i necessarely meet some of the characters involved in the events of the story and do i get some particular boost or specially ability a la chosen one, or is it all up to chance and i just live and die in it like a random citizen?

>>2161
You are isekai'd into that world. Onto your second question, I recently went to Chris-Chan's house. If you want to, you can go to Hollywood and walk around till you see your favorite movie star, and harass them. Most people don't do these things, but we all exist in the same world, so you can find them if you want. You exist in that world, and if you'd like, you can interact with the characters.

Iria's a real good show. Not super deep, but it's a fun action-adventure sci-fi story. The setting doesn't have a lot of worldbuilding in it, but it has a string visual style I like.

And it's only like 6 episodes so you can watch it in an evening.

This is from "Princess Mononoke" . The recoil should have pushed it off her shoulder!

Morbid curiosity told me to look at this era of shoujo anime, so I started with Sasurai no Taiyou; it's not terrible even if hammier than I expected after a diet of 2000s stuff. I tried to sketch some of the character expressions in a sketchbook but it didn't come out great. Any other shoujo recommendations from this era I should check out?

I'm better on the late 70s, but I can run down the classics I know are translated.

Princess Knight
Attack No.1
Aim for the Ace I watched this, it's good)
Cutey Honey
Heidi, Girl of the Alps (more general kids than shoujo)

"Anime:" is the Japanese term for Animation, hence in English, it refers to Japanese Animation.
"Serga" is the Japanese term for Cel Animation, hence I propose we use it to refer to Japanese Cel Animation.

>>2101
is that not just the term for the cels themself, though?

What does this mean, license has expired? Like now anyone can make derivative of it?

>>2068
It means the rights have reverted to the original company and the company producing those can't make them anymore

A real shame, I remember watching Harlock back in 2018 and it was the oldest anime I had ever watched up until then. I actually wanted to watch Cosmo Warrior Zero but was told to watch the original Harlock instead. I forced my way through 6 episodes a day so I could finish it in a week and it was tough but I somehow did it. I liked it even if I remember next to nothing about it, webm related was my favourite scene just for how Harlock handled that situation.

I saw The Cockpit about a year later and thought it was alright, the first episode with the nazi trying to decide if he should do the right thing but betray his country was a cool idea, the second episode was somewhat funny because the MC wanted to die so bad and it would've been interesting if he didn't go through with it. The third episode was alright but a bit boring I found.

I should really watch GE999 one of these days but the 113 episode count really does put me off, I would just have to hope it catches my attention early on so I can power through it.

Wonder who will sadly be next, so many old mangaka and directors in their 70s and 80s these days.

RIP

Do you think he would be happy if he saw the otaku culture today?

Did he truly achieve his goals in the end?

It was a more innocent time.

Honestly anime should've stayed underground. I hate when the U.S. tries to imitate Japanese animation and writing styles.

>>1007
What a coincidence, because I hate when Japan tries to imitate U.S. animation and writing styles.
