Or, Kiyohiko Azuma & Keiichi Arawi - mangakas who the best SoL/CGDCT stories. Unlike a lot of modern, seasonal anime - these two shows are timeless and can be enjoyed by anyone, anywhere. I've tried to watch other SoL anime, some I've enjoyed momentarily, while others I completely forgot I had watched after a while. But there's something very special about Azumanga and Nichijou that have stayed with me. I think it's the relatability of the characters, the comfortable, comedic nature of the shows, as well as the "cuteness" of it all. What I've found most important is that the girls in both shows feel real - they're not written as tropes with flat personalities. I'd love to know if anyone else has similar thoughts or has some good CGDCT/SoL shows that have gone unnoticed.

I'm watching Azumanga for the first time, I'm surprised how much K-On energy it has

I did not care for Nichijou, but I loved Azu and Yotsuba. I could not get into the main characters outside of the little professor girl, her caretaker, and the cat. I would have watched an entire show about those three, but I couldn't care about the other characters so I dropped it.

In the nicest way possible the way you phrased your post makes me want to hit you in the head with a rock. Keep watching though, Azu is amazing and I cried like a little bitch at the end.

>>1081
Vice versa retard.

>>1087
I finished watching it a week ago, I almost teared up at the end. Made me reminisce about my own graduation a bit. Didn't even feel watching anything else after it that evening until the emotions settled.
I knew very little about Azumanga before watching, I tend to watch anime going in completely blind. I expected more of an absurd comedy anime than a more pure CGDCT SoL, with how there was an uptick in unhinged zoomer memes involving Azumanga in the past few years and from that popular "Hello everynyan/ Oh my gah" clip. It didn't feel like a drag to watch either despite the 26 episodes. I can see why it's in so many favourite lists.
Please don't hit on my head with a rock 😨 K-On is one of my favourite anime and the definitive CGDCT and SoL anime in my head

It's fine I was a bit angry when I wrote the post. I'm happy you liked the show. It's almost time for me to re-watch it because I love it so much. Btw the night I went to sleep I thought about the way you worded your post and it reminded me of [attached image]

Why would she do that???
Why she couldn’t see there’s glass nearby

The same reason she did everything she did. She's fat and retarded. Also crazy.

absolute classic, i wish they would produce this kind of level these days… they dont

Do you think Jiren will be even stronger in his next appearance, or has his traning taken him as far as it possibly could?
Maybe he would need a new master to reach even greater heights?

i think jiren SUCKS

Hate to break it to you but I sincerely doubt most of the ppl who use this board give a fuck about modern Dragon Ball

But to answer your question, wouldn’t be surprised if Toyotaro brings him back, depending on if they’ll actually let him continue the manga

>>1059

You would be correct.

The earliest digital anime were pretty rough, and they had a host of problems including:
>weak colors
>lack of contrast
>often a grey haze over everything.

I consider it a bit of a digital dark ages for anime and it took them years to fix these underlying issues.

Here is a fan edit attempt at correcting this. Stronger colors, contrast, and a CRT effect (film grain replacement).

Could fans produce entire fan edits of series to fix these issues?

Generally OLED or a good mini LED. OLED will have better viewing angles, better motion resolution, and typically less blooming, but top end mini LEDs are roughly on par with the best OLEDs in terms of contrast while getting brighter. The Sony Bravia 9 for example.

>CRTs?

CRTs are incredibly overrated and inflexible when it comes to video. The best HD ones top out 1080i and can be picky with signals. Only PC CRT monitors don't have these issues, but the largest ones are only around 20 inches, and they got prohibitively expensive a long time ago. Most hover around 100-120 nits. Even the best monitors like Sony artisans roughly have a gamut as wide as Rec.709, but with primaries shifted away from red. So, even the best CRTs can't display red as intended. They do have by far the best motion resolution though. You will barely see stutter on a CRT with a proper refresh rate. Their ability to display lower resolutions can also make bad SD anime transfers look a lot better. And, I have to admit that they do have a unique look. Something about phosphors is pleasant, but if you want phosphors you'd be better off hunting down a good Plasma. Something like a late gen Pioneer Kuro or a late Panasonic Plasma. You still get the benefits of phosphors and far superior motion with the benefits of a more modern display.

That looks bad. His skin looks very yellow.

>>1044
its not so bad

>Fan edit
>It's worse
And what was the point of CRT filter?

Couldn't you do something like this with shaders or do you really have to fuck with the video?

Since the series is turning 25 this year I decided to finally pick it up.
When I was buying the first volume the cashier asked me if I was buying it for a girlfriend. Sorry lady…this is for me, and me alone. But it is going next to my Sex and the City DVDs.
In any case, I've read up until Volume 8 since then and it's actually pretty wonderful? It might be a soap but its an awfully well written soap, and I just love love love Ai Yazawa's art. If it keeps this quality up it might become one of my favorite manga of all time, I think.
Anyways what does /digi/ think of it

I'll take "shit that never happened"

Here's a huge list I've made with anime based on video games:

Thank you all, for surviving.

Watching Tamers as a child fucked me up. I'll let you guess why.

So I finished watching this and it was… well, quite the experience.

The main attractive to me was theorizing about plot elements and thinking about the themes of the anime (I still got a bit confused though).

I think that what interested me the most was how it talked about the collective unconsciousness and how it affects one's perception of reality.

>>100
Congratulations. When are you transitioning? And when is the funeral?

This anime and a psychotic break made me believe in god…

I finished the show a few weeks ago after bouncing off several times through the years. This time I fucked with it hard enough by the middle that I almost became a witch and placed Lain at the head of my pantheon, but I stopped when I realized that if she isn't powerful enough to do yuri for herself then there's no way she would be powerful enough to do yuri for a follower.

Does Hellsing Ultimate count? It was released from 2006 to 2012. Or can we only talk about the episodes which were released before 2010?

The art style is very 2000s I'd say it's fine.

>>137

The tv show had an aesthetic that the ovas failed to capture imo.
2 things that always bothered me about ultimate were the unnaturally glowing teeth everyone has(sometimes its like they are holding a lightbulb in their mouths) and the plastic looking blood.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses.

hellsing 01 has some of the best style ive seen in any anime. it has a strong identity not only visually but also musically. its got some of the best music in any anime ive watched.

what do you guys think about hobbyani? its a genre that refers to manga based on some kind of hobby (usually toys and video games) thats often marketed to children-think digimon and medabots

this sort of stuff exploded in the 2000s, but i dont see kids watching this stuff anymore. honestly a shame because theres a lot of love put into this stuff, even if the stories arent the most mature or profound.

Unfortunately the more Japan's population ages the less you will get proper kids anime, its mostly reboots for older fans now. Plus kids grow up with Ipads now, so cards, tops, etc are kind of out.

>>311
That's false for several reasons. Digital toys are not new to Japan, a lot of hobbyani are based off digital games, and analog games have been increasing in sales.

>>276
>i dont see kids watching this stuff anymore
They still make tons of them, but barely any of them seem to get localized.

>>311
Man you really have no idea what Japanese TV is like, there's a bunch of kids anime that never ever make it to the west. Even bullshit like Puzzle and Dragons has an anime.
>>288
Damn, that takes me back. Yokai Watch has been gone for like a decade now. It's weird how the series just up and vanished after the Switch era started.

I really liked B-daman when i was a kid
