Can someone recommend good anime community. Most of the well known ones are full of people who think FMAB, Eva and Fate/Stay are pinnacle of anime. I always end up disagreeing with them on both anime and other things and eventually just get derezzed.

Are there are different anime communities free of Eva and Fate zealots?

Alternatively can you recommend me some anime to watch, considering I view all three titles mentioned above as soykaf. My full AniList is here

& thruth is Eva is a harem (+ fanservice)

& Eva isn't a real mecha, it's more closer to bionicles

both of these are basically irrelevant complaints about the show in question. something being a harem (which i really would not argue eva is, shinji's relationship with the girls that are part of his harem are evocative of more archetypical young romances, and serve only to highlight the point that shinji's difficulties forming real relationships stem from his own neuroses about what is real and what is a facade) doesn't make it bad, something not being "real mecha" doesn't make it bad. your argument here is moreso that eva doesn't match or fit your expectations of what it should have been, and you don't like it because of that. obviously this is a fair opinion to have, but you shouldn't project your personal grievances about eva into arguments.

fake counterfeit pseudo mecha for posers

I'mnot really into anime communities because I don't talk to people often but I can give you a small list of stuff to watch.

The Big O
Black Blood Brothers
Eden of The East (+ the movie)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Here's the thread this board was missing. Let's talk about Made in Abyss.

I have seen only 1st season. I haven't read manga.

>author is one

one of who? Are you mangaka or writer, maybe show us some of your works?

there is no such thing as "otaku", it's a broad social construct term. person who watches only iyashikei are different from one who watches mahoushoujo or shounen etc.

or maybe you wanted to say : author is just a normal regular human too. In this case yes, maybe.

Buy originals, licensed hard copies directly from author, if you really care so much.

>Elfen Lied

I remember when it just came out and were considered newfg zoomer type of emo slop. And then some one made cool effect amv with breaking benjamin & diary of jane. When it came out we were drinking beer staying overnight with my punk school friend, smoking cigs at roof, watching moon n stars n anime. now he grew up a bit of alt-right. but he still like watching mimikauwa alike stuff.

Great! More loli violence!

>>925
Hell yeah

Since there's no board for visual novels here (currently), do they fall under this channel? At least for the ones published post-2000 (and similarly, do the retros belong in /cel/?)

*channel but yeah

>>946
They're meant to fall under >>>/djn/ though theres currently not much discussion outside of the general vn thread at >>>/djn/141 and the higurashi thread at >>>/djn/444

You don't mind if I post here a bit? I don't mean to stick to any specific topic, but I feel like I need to write my thoughts down somewhere and here just looks to be good enough?

This scene caused me goose bumps!
So cute!

OK so where's my picture???

Figadmin I don't know what's wrong, but it prompts me twice, attaches twice, but sends the picture only once.

Really weird. I use
Chromium 138.0.7204.96 Arch Linux

I have the same issue

Thanks for sage, though my dumb ass accidentally bumped the thread anyway.

Thoughts on the new season?

I remember watching a video several months ago predicting that the new season would pick up right where the 1st left off and magically resolve the stocking thing in 1ep and everything be back to normal for the rest of the season. So that was funny to witness.
Overall it still got the same general vibe, even with the new voice actors, and I consider this a good thing. I don't know how to feel about Brief's self-reflection scene which just reeks of feminist brain-damage, but for now I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a gag.

I feel like S2 is a lot more westernized in some ways but I'd say the overall humor is still faithful to the original. I'm more surprised they were able to show dick and pussy completely uncensored in a Japanese show.

I will never forgive Studio Khara and Hideki Anno for killing Gainax

was my post about FLCL been deleted?

What's your favorite Ineeshal Dee moment?

I always thought it was sick that Ryosuke's challenge letter to Takumi was addressed to him with a grandiose boquet of flowers. As far as actual scenes go, hard to top the Bunta no hand steer.

im sorry.

I strongly doubt it. Especially since there was a lot of dark stuff in the 80s with hyper violent OVAs that was reviled by a lot of westerners, especially internet critics of the 2000s. Hell look at Genocyber which was peak nihilism and postmodern critique. The same guy that did Genocyber went on to do the plot of FMA 2003 which was more nihilistic than the source material.
I think it's less to do with western influence and more a sub-sect of that Japanese generation at the time that grew disillusioned, I am not that good at Japanese Cold War history, but part of me thinks it has to do with all the wacky shit that was going on in the 60s-70s with those extreme leftist groups that were taking over schools and causing literal sieges (I think there was even one that was a literal self-hating anti-Japanese group?).
Also post-modern critique in Japan is nothing really new. So I don't really believe that either. It just so happens it more easily appeals to western tastes because westerners are a lot more cynical.

>>730
I wouldn't be so harsh, he heard it from another anon so I strongly doubt it's his own beliefs. But I can see why it would be easy to jump to that conclusion if you only looked at it superficially. If you look deeper it doesn't really add up that much honestly.

>It's as if Gonzo wanted to atone for how much they butchered Hellsing by taking a similar IP
Nah take that back. Hellsing 2001 was great.
I get it wasn't faithful, but I just found out more interesting than Hirano's original version (I like the tone, characters, writing, style and music more). Hirano's original manga felt too rushed since Hirano was just too lazy to actually write the damn story, which is part of the reason why the anime was mostly original instead of faithful.
I wish Hirano had more of an attitude like Arakawa when it came to unfaithful adaptations, I would've liked Hellsing 2001 to run for a bit longer before then having Ultimate come out much later so Hirano could've taken more time to actually finish the manga instead of rushing it in such a weird way. But nah, Hirano threw a hissy fit about 2001 and probably got any continuation shit-canned.

Since Ergo Proxy is being talked about, here is an old interview with the director.
