It's cool and everything but there's certain anxieties about it that I have that I haven't seen others voice (man the state of touhou discussion elsewhere is just disappointing)
The sort of horrifying thing to me is that it'll be replacing the game in its original state in the minds of all the new fans that will play it (with all its eccentrities like the fact that you only get auto pick up at max power and the like, or the low resolution of the character portraits, or how dorky the graphic design is. On that point, how people might think that the "remastered" music replaces the original which is the most scary part.) but in the end, it's probably fine. Most people struggled to get a working version that didn't go at 9000 FPS anyways and apparently there will be a rebuilt version of the original game, which we can hope manages to properly replicate it.
If they do proceed to do 7, 7.5, 8, and 9, which already seems likely. It does refire that worry in me, since those games are easier to get working on a modern machine and thus have less of a barrier, and 7 specially since to me it's a very special game from its aesthethic and quirks (and from the fact it's the game I'm most nostalgic on), in the end, it goes back to this anxiety of the originals getting replaced in the conciousness and a certain fear that others won't engage with them and appreciate them on their own terms.
Well, I'm just rambling since I needed a place to express my worries. I already feel more calm and I'm picking my hopes back up, I think it'll be good if it gets people to properly engage with the games in an earnest way and if it gets them to engage with the rest of the franchise which are far more available on their own.
>>5476It seems that they aren't going to be redesigns but just redrawn from the original artwork, just for a higher resolution, and the translations seem to be tasked upon by known translators and all. That said, we're probably heading for another few years of EoSD dominance in fanart, which will be a bit annoying
