I have never seen a full collection of promotional art. Does one even exist?

1993(for the manga) or 1996(for the anime) depending on which anniversary it’s referring to

>>2089
A comment pointed out that because it was using the anime’s designs then that would mean this dates back to 1996

Screenshots or gifs of nice imagery. Some of the direction in Rumiko's works can be quite nice.

Examples from the show of Frame within a Frame. Here's another from The Graduate which uses a similar effect of a woman's legs to frame the image.

I suspect the specific reference might be the poster For Your Eyes Only.

These might not seem significant, but if it's not done it's rather noticeable and the absence is why a lot of modern productions (especially American) are very visually bland.

Adventure Time is used as an example, but I could have used endless examples. No negative space, every section seems filled, and nothing stands out visually.

This might be my favorite shot of Ran, really establishes her and her character.

That’s actually very similar to the penultimate episode listings

I started reading mao. It's pretty good.

Have you started the people's war yet

Winners don't do communism

Lenin would've been a funnier name for the manga. Mao is just too brutal.

her art has regressed to the how to draw manga early 00's books.

Does anyone know about a particular deleted scene that was allegedly showed only in Japan theaters were Ataru was hit in the head with a mallet and had a dream where he was a old man. I can't find any leads on this.

The film was animated Open Matte, then cropped for theaters in Widescreen. We still don't have an HD open matte release.

>The burning sun was red and hugely bloated and shining. Thousands of spaceships fly through the sky.

>The last time it is about to come to the earth.
>The man was standing alone in the beach where the future city, which is now uninhabited, was seen far away. It was the figure of Ataru who became an old man.
>The man who talked to him was a pilot from an immigrant fleet who abandoned Mother Earth and set out for a far alien planet.
>The pilot encourages him to board a spaceship, but Ataru refuses to respond. He couldn't feel like leaving this star, where he used to spend time with a memorable person, and the one where that memorable person is sleeping.
>It is a memory of the nostalgic past. But then Ataru realized that he had spent a long time here and couldn't remember his name. Despaired and struck by despair. Cherry's words, "A fool !!", suddenly appeared.

Am i crazy or is the bottom image severly cropped compared to the top?

If you mean more extreme cropping than usual for widescreen? Yeah, they intentionally want to cut out Akemi's titties there.

Why does she consume large amounts of Tabasco? Is she retarded?

Also post food recipes that include lots of Tabasco within the dish, Lum would love it if you do.

You posted this on /a/, didn't you? I respect the grind. Here's a recipe I found on the Tabasco website that seems worth exploring.

Santa Fe Western Omelet Tacos

Ingredients:
>TABASCO® Green Jalapeño Sauce (3 tablespoons)
>Vegetable oil for deep-frying
>5 (8-inch) corn tortillas, cut in half
>15 large eggs
>1/4 cup half-and-half
>10 tablespoons olive oil, divided
>1 cup diced smoked ham
>1 cup diced red bell peppers
>1 cup diced onion
>1 cup diced, seeded tomatoes
>1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
>1/2 cup sliced green onions

Preparation:
>Heat vegetable oil to 375°F in a deep fryer or skillet; add tortillas a few at a time and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and keep warm.

>Combine eggs, half-and-half, and TABASCO® Green Sauce in a large bowl and beat until combined.

>Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in an 8-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add 2 tablespoons each of ham, bell pepper, onion, and tomatoes and cook 1 minute; stir in 1/2 cup egg mixture. Cook until set, then flip.

>Sprinkle omelet with 2 tablespoons cheese and fold in half. Place one fried tortilla half on a plate and top with omelet; place another tortilla half on top. Repeat process with remaining ingredients. Serve omelets with sour cream and guacamole and sprinkle with green onions.

I may or may not have done such a thing. Also thanks the recipe.

She considers earth food edible, but finds it mostly bland so she needs a strong flavor like toabasco.

I think she just likes vinegar

So who would you rather date? Say you had a meeting with the truck and got isekai'd into a Rumic 2D paradise. Now you have a choice between these two ladies.

>EXHIBIT A. Lum
Perks? She's an alien princess of a mighty and powerful space empire. That's a big step up from your shitty earth bound existence. Not only are you never short of funds but she has a personal army and a UFO to boot. The downside is she will use these things against you if you upset her. She's not entirely used to earth customs, which can be an advantage and a disadvantage depending on your taste. she' also hawt as hell and not afraid to flaunt it. The downside is she appears to be some sort of sexual sadist who shows love by frying her darling with volts of electric. Her ability to fly and access to a UFO mean you'll never escape her. But I guess that's fine if your into masochism.

>EXHIBIT B. Shinobu
Cute, petite, and none of the alien stuff that make Lum so weird. She's not as good looking as either, a bit pasty and thin compared to Lum with breasts that'd make a lolicon drool. Cute over sexy. But Shinobu is confident, upstanding, intelligent, and usually clam. This makes her fairly reliable in serious situations that require the use of common sense and a functional human brain. Her earthly human family should be somewhat easier to deal with than Lum's. By far her worst drawback is her explosive temper and ability to throw around furniture like a pro wrestler. So much as glance at another girl and you'll risk a steel chair to the head.

So which will it be? Who do you choose? Is there someone else feeling left out?

Personally, I'd marry Lum for the political connections and make Shinobu my concubine, unless the Oni tolerate polygamy then she'll be our sweet co-wife as God intended.

There are definitely prettier boys in this anime. You should go for Mendou. He deserves it. The guy has a silver spoon up his ass so it will accommodate your chinpo nicely.

mfw fucking mendou

The original series premise is normal couple Shinobu and Ataru being accosted by "Urusei Yatsura" (obnoxious aliens), which then shifted to having Lum being more prominent but still as a foil for the couple. So the early stakes are how Ataru can reuinite with Shinobu. That's why the first OP is so heavy in focusing on this.

After that however, the series is retooled with Lum as the main heroine. Shinobu is now clearly not dating Ataru, but she's still in the series, often as one of the four main characters (with the addition of Mendo). Rumiko clearly doesn't want to ditch her, but she also doesn't know what to do with her.

Meanwhile if the anime for the first two seasons wants to fill time, they often give Shinobu or Mendo something to do. Shinobu has a lot of scenes where she's still scheming or seething at Lum, which is mostly gone in the manga.

>>1925
So it's still weird to see the early series still play this up, and to see Shinobu even showing any damn interest in Ataru at all. She's still willing to make up with Ataru and is glad he's showing interest in her.

Later Shinobu is just another girl for Ataru to be leecherous towards, and then punish him with violence. There's almost no hints that they were going to get engaged.

Also as written originally: the space babes are exotic and sexually provocative, while the Japanese Shinobu is chaste and demure. There is meant to be a big contrast between the two, while later the line is much more blurred. Shinobu gets more outfits and fan service and Lum becomes quite chaste and innocent herself.

She gets hurt the least in the entire series, so I want to catalogue all the incidents here.

Alright, it is Wednesday and I am gonna post the first volume of Rin-ne. Feel free to react or comment on any panel, though I appreciate if image replies are not used during the dump. Feel free to discuss anything related to Rin-ne after the dump.

Rin-ne is Rumiko Takahashi's return to comedy after Inuyasha. Rin-ne is VIZ's localized title, presumably chosen to assist in pronunciation. The original title is 境界のRINNE (Kyokai/Kyoukai no Rinne) which means Rinne of the Boundary. While it is not a megahit like some of her other huge series, I highly recommend it to fans of Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura though it is obviously different.

I will be using scans of the official VIZ localization. Be aware that some of the larger images may have been edited to be lower quality due to image size limits.

In addition, I will be dumping the one short story by Rumiko Takahashi and Mitsuru Ikegami that came out around this time called "My Sweet Sunday". Today, the scans I have of the one shot are the official VIZ ones.

Would you look at that.

End! All's well that ends well. I like this story, though I feel there could've been a bit more to it. It does touch upon how difficult it is to give advice and help people but it also shows that it is easy to misunderstand other people's situations. As such, I can't help but want a bit more from it. But life doesn't have an easy moral, I guess. Let me know what you thought of this one.

As mentioned before, I'll be back next WEDNESDAY with Volume 4 of Rin-ne.

Well, 4chan is back up. I hope you guys enjoyed reading Rin-ne on /lum/. I did enjoy posting it, but I'll admit, posting on both /a/ and here would take a lot of time and while I appreciate all of you who read it here, I think there will be more people reading on /a/.

I will be returning on /a/ on 4chan next Wednesday with Volume 1 of Rin-ne (reposting what I've posted here).

if you dont know for sure you should rewatch the whole thing.

A lot of people whined about Beautiful Dreamer having reduced Lum focus, but the plus side is that almost every single scene of her is gold. Even this little smile is perfect.

The smoothness on this is pretty unreal.

Beautiful Dreamer is best Lum. It has some great sequences with her flying around and takes her "magical" nature seriously.
